How to take care of a wild starfish?

My friend found a starfish on the CT sound and she wants to keep it.

I have a tank, and offered to hold it for her. I live on a beach so i can change the water daily, or collect live rock to put in the tank.

What else should i be considering?

What do they eat and how do i keep the temperature at a solid rate for a starfish?

I don't think it really matters what the temp is. NO NO NO DO NOT CHANGE WATER DAILY change monthly only do a 25% water change but do you have filter light air pump how big is the tank ? You could catch some fish iswell and put them in there only small 1's tho.

i dont know what they eat! Im 11 so I don't really know. I know more about fish lol

Hope I helped!

i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but wild starfish will not survive in an aquarium... especially an aquarium that's not even mature.

what should you be considering? returning the starfish where you found it.. and don't try to adopt anymore wild sea or land life.

if you 2 want a captive starfish then spend the necessary money (a few hundred dollars) in purchasing a tank, filtration system, test kits, live rocks, live sand (there's a HUGE difference in live sand/rock/water that you find in the store and ocean), salt, the right dechlorinator chemicals, etc.. allow it to cycle for a couple of months with the rock, maybe some corals, THEN look into a store bought (captive bred) starfish.
you just have to have a saltwater and it will eat algae but i am not the smartest with the starfish so it might be easier to listen to someone Else blondie is right but if you buy it in a store it will be ok
It probably won't live long.

If you have never done a salt water tank, this is not the way to learn.

Generally, the common starfish eats clams, mussels, and other bivalves.
