I am 13 and i want to make my room beach themed. My room is a solid color of sand and i don't want to change the color of my walls. If anyone has an idea of how to make it beach themed, please give me some. I also would like to have websites to look off of, with the link already with beach themed room design (ideas) on it.
I also have an idea to get a netted material and put shells, and beachy stuff on it. Any idea how to do it?
Please remember that i'm 13 and everything i get must be low cost and easy to make/find.
Thanks SO much for the help!!!!
Beach themed bedroom for a teenager?
A beach themed room sounds great! With sand colored walls your half way there. Here are my ideas. Get a large piece of foam board at your local craft store. It comes in white only. Draw a cloud on it and cut it out. Hang it on your wall or from your celling using clear fishing line and tacks. You can make some smaller ones to. With the what's left over you can make some seagulls! Just find a picture of one and hand draw it on and cut it out. If you get another piece of foam board you could make several. You could get light blue poster board and make waves and staple it to your wall on the bottom. I would just do it on one wall the longest one in your room. You also need a sun so get some yellow poster board, or if your really creative paint all the poster board and make it shaded in areas. Draw a pair of flip flops and a beach towel on poster board and tape it on the sand. Get a cd with ocean music and relax in your beach room.

You could find some Beach towels designed with colors you like and make curtains out of those. Also, as far as the sea shells go, you can hot glue them onto just about anything, lamp shades, bulletin board frames, picture frames, etc. But, if you use shells you find on the beach, make sure you clean them and air them out well or you'll end up with a nasty fishy smell after a week or two.
Oh, if you do use shells you can paint them with clear nail polish to make them nice and shiny.
You could switch out your dresser knobs for ones with a beach theme. For example, they make starfish shaped knobs, fish shaped knobs, sailboat knobs etc. They are not too expensive and you can find them pretty readily with an internet search. Your idea of using fish netting can be done pretty easily. You can buy fish net from any fishing supply store or a large sporting goods store. Put a hook in your ceiling to hang the netting from, you can glue the shells to it with a hot glue gun. Have someone take you to a store with a large garden section. Look around, you will be able to find many decorations that though intended for outdoor use, will work well inside a beach themed room.
EDIT: Also, to continue the theme of fish netting, if you have a stereo with detatched speakers, you can put them in fish netting and hang them up. Just make sure you get your hook properly installed and you may need to buy some additional speaker wire. I've seen it done before and it looked good.
have blue carpet and have a little beach chair with umbrella in your room hang sea shells oh and under that beach chair have a little box of sand.
I would hang white sheer curtains on a white rod. Fill glass jars 1/ 2 way with sand and add a few shells and mabye candles. I would keep the tan and white as my primary colors and add a litltle light blue here and there. Try stores like Walmart and Target. You will be amazed at what you can pull together from their stuff. Good Luck!
colours like blue and white and yellow work good in that style of bedroom
I have a room with a hot tub in the floor (I hate the hot tub)...but anyway, I call it my Florida room..it has french doors that go out onto the deck. I wanted to make it shocking, so I painted it tangerine w/white woodwork. I went with a beach theme. I found items here and there....tropical fish (wooden) that I hung on the walls, a lifeguard chair lamp, knick knacks,... I made window toppers out of tropical material from WalMart $1 a yard!!!! It was so cute....lounge chairs etc, I used sandbucket for a trash can...had a beach picture. If I can find pics, I will send to you. Shop thrift stores, (2nd hand shops), yards sales, etc. You can pick this stuff up for next to nothing. After 3 years, i got tired of it and have changed the decor. I wish I still had the stuff...I would send it to you. Check out hgtv.com and type in beach decor room. It will pull up several sites. You can buy the nets, but not sure where...good luck
You could add a blue or white trim to your walls. Have your bedding become blue/white or blue/beige or beige/white. Black/white photography is a nice touch. A bamboo or blue accent rug with wicker/rattan/bamboo/white furniture is great. Glue seashells to a plain frame of a mirror or onto furniture. Have small blue candles/tea lights and shell-themed candle-holders. Nice seashells and candle holders are at Michaels. Put sea glass into a vase or a blue/green/transparent container. Sea glass and candles (also candle-holders) are at Bed, Bath %26amp; Beyond. Curtains can just be sheers. Have fun decorating your room!
